Monday's Local Sports Roundup

Softball
SCAA
Bradford 16, Jasper-Troupsburg 0
JASPER ? There was no let-down following Sammi English?s no-hitter last week. English struck out 17 Jasper-Troupsburg batters to earn her second straight no-hitter in a 16-0 Bradford victory in Monday?s SCAA softball game.

Just a freshman, English opened the game by striking out the first six batters she faced. She also struck out the side in the fifth and sixth innings. J-T did have three base runners on the day thanks to a trio of walks.

?I really think she was more focused because of her performance last week,? Bradford coach Karen Lyke said. ?J-T was a little behind on her pitches early and I think that it gave her confidence.?

Offensively, the Braves pounded out 13 hits and scored 13 of their runs in the last four innings. Amanda Machuga doubled and drove in four runs for Bradford, while Tory Wagner also had a double and two RBI. Catcher Hillary Bonning also drove in a pair of runs.

Bradford will travel to Alfred-Almond for a 5:45 p.m.

Softball
SCAA
Addison 7, Wellsville 6
ADDISON ? The Knights scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to rally back, then held off Wellsville on Monday to remain undefeated on the season.

Mikey Watkins plated three runs for Addison (9-0), while Haley Robinson had two RBI and Kelly DuVall had one RBI. Kiwi Burrell hit a triple for Addison and Rachael Sutryk and Kenzie Wooldridge each went 2-for-3 in the game.
Addison trailed 5-2 in the fifth inning against a Class B team and stormed right back.

?We weren?t used to runners getting on base and scoring on us ? we were playing scared,? said Addison coach Kim Driskell. ?Once we got runners on base, we shook it off and got back into it. It?s nice to know we have what it takes to come from behind.?

Addison will host Hammondsport today.

Campbell-Savona 14, Prattsburgh 7
PRATTSBURGH ? Lekysha Snyder went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and four runs scored Monday, leading Campbell-Savona to a win on the road.

Jordan Beech hit 2-for-5 with an RBI for the Panthers (2-8), while Brianna Knowles was 2-for-5? with two RBI and Alisha Morse was 3-for-5 with a double. Morse also threw her first varsity win in only her second outing.

Prattsburgh was led by Shana Egresi?s 2-for-4 day with a double and two RBI and Hannah Robbins went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Campbell-Savona will host Hammondsport on Wednesday.

Hammondsport 4, Canisteo-Greenwood 3
HAMMONDSPORT ? The Lakers scored two runs in the fifth inning, then held off Canisteo-Greenwood 4-3 Monday.

Hammondsport grabbed a 4-1 lead in the fifth when Alyson Binnert sacrificed Brook Clark home. That was followed by an RBI by Victoria Yahn.
The Redskins scored single runs in the sixth and seventh to make it close. Julie York drove in two runs.

Binnert was the winning pitcher, fanning three without a walk. Amber York got the loss.

STAC
Corning 9, Binghamton 2
BINGHAMTON ? Chaylen Andolino went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases Monday, leading Corning to its ninth win of the season.

Hailey Blencowe went 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Hawks (9-2), while Angelena Maio hit an RBI double, Angie Frampton tripled, and Megan Lewis and Gabby Citroniti each had an RBI. Olivia Furness struck out 10 with three walks, four hits and one earned run.

?The girls have been mixing in with some small ball with the some long ball and they were a confident group today,? said Corning coach Irene Furness.

Corning will host Elmira on Wednesday.

Horseheads 5, Vestal 2
HORSEHEADS ? Haley Williamson hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Amber Terlaje did the rest in the circle Monday, leading Horseheads to a win at home.

Mary Groszenor went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Horseheads (6-4), while Terlaje struck out seven with a walk and one earned run. Vestal was led by an RBI apiece for Kristen Hickling and Kat Tibensky.

Horseheads will visit Maine-Endwell on Wednesday.

LCAA
Bath Haverling 18, Pavilion 3
BATH ? Megan Hockaday went 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBI Monday, leading Bath Haverling to a win at home.

Sam Cupp went 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Rams (5-3), while Brittany Orlowske was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Jolynn Betty went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Alex Siebert won her first varsity game, striking out 10 with no walks, while going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Overall, nine different Rams drove in a run and pounded out 13 hits.

?The season is starting to shorten up and the kids are doing some good things and it?s great to see that,? said Bath coach Don Long. ?Now we get into the meat of our schedule.?

Bath will host Wayland-Cohocton today.

Baseball
LCAA
Bath Haverling 7, Pavilion 6, 8 innings
BATH ? Matt Socola had the game-winning hit in the eight inning Monday, leading Bath Haverling to a win at home.

With the bases loaded, Socola, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI on the night, singled in Mitchell Buckley for the Rams? fourth win of the season. Bailey Colomaio had an RBI double for Bath (4-5), while Buckley had a double.

Bath will host Wayland-Cohocton today.

Binghamton 8, Corning 6, 8 innings
BINGHAMTON ? Binghamton scored four runs in the last two innings of regulation before downing Corning in the eighth-inning on a walk-off home run by Bobby McMahon.

Corning starter Nate Grant held the Patriots in check through three innings before leaving the game with a blister. Grant had fanned eight.

The Hawks got three hits apiece from Joseph Foti and Ty Timmerman and led the Patriots 6-5 heading into the Binghamton seventh, where it tied the game.

Cody Burdett, who pitched the eighth inning in relief of ?Sean Lustig, got the win. Corning?s fourth pitcher Derek Ayers got the loss.

?We left 11 runners on base and kept looking for that key hit,? Corning head coach John Knapp said.

Corning will host Elmira Wednesday, before traveling to Elmira Thursday and visiting Horseheads on Friday.

Tioga 9, Elmira Notre Dame 6
TIOGA ? A six-run fifth inning lifted Tioga to a win at home Monday.

Sam Bruner went 3-for-3 for Elmira Notre Dame (8-4), while Hunter Thomas was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI and Wyatt Martin went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Tioga (8-3) was led by two RBI from Carter Jackson.

The Crusaders will host Newark Valley on Wednesday.

Campbell-Savona 8, Prattsburgh 1
PRATTSBURGH ? D.J. Loucks pitched a one-hitter Monday, leading Campbell-Savona to its eighth win of the season.

Mitchell Allen went 2-for-4 with an RBI triple for the Panthers (8-1), while Troy Robbins and Loucks each had an RBI. Prattsburgh reliever Sean McClain scattered four hits over five innings.

?D.J. did a nice job keeping them on their heels,? Campbell-Savona coach Kurt York said.

Prattsburgh (5-3) will host Arkport today.

Boys lacrosse
GRALL
Aquinas 14, Bath Haverling 2
BATH ? A big second-quarter burst gave Aquinas a win on the road Monday.

Alex Bianchi scored six times for Aquinas (7-2), while Jonathan Aldrich netted three goals. Bath Haverling (2-5) was led by a goal apiece from Shayne Stonier and Bruce Rinker, while Kyle Clark and Brandon Dickson each had an assist. Goalie Matt Haruiski made six saves.

Aquinas, leading by two, went on a 6-0 run in the second quarter to blow open the game.

Haverling will play Horseheads for the first time Thursday in Bath.

Tennis
SCAA
Prattsburgh 3, Hammondsport 2
PRATTSBURGH ? With three matches going three sets, Prattsburgh head coach Bill Stollery was pleased to end his match with Hammondsport with a victory.

?It was very close throughout the match. It came down to the two doubles teams to win if for us,? Stollery said.

Will Stockton earned a win at first singles for the Vikings, before Peter Smock and Adam Mitchell and the team of Ricky Stratton and Troy Sanford each needed three sets to earn victories.

Hammondsport?s Eladio Martinez won a three-set singles match against Vanessa Stephan to lead the Lakers.

Prattsburgh will travel to Campbell-Savona for a 4:30 p.m. match Wednesday.

LCAA
Hornell 4, Bath Haverling 1
BATH ? Hornell players came through in the clutch Monday, giving the Red Raiders a win against rival Bath Haverling.

Jim Dagan won a 7-5, 7-5 match at second singles against Bath?s Murray Wright, while Elliott Flint worked overtime in fourth singles, winning 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to edge Noah Schuster. The Rams (1-3) got their win at first doubles, when Evan McDowell and Logan Hobbes teamed up to take a 6-2, 6-4 match.

Evan Hilfiger won first singles for Hornell.

Bath will complete a suspended game against Caledonia-Mumford on the road today.

Alfred-Almond 4, Campbell-Savona 1
ALMOND ? The Alfred-Almond Eagles evened their overall record at 2-2 on the season, scoring a 4-1 Steuben County Athletic Association tennis victory over Campbell-Savona on Monday.

In what appeared to be the most highly-contest match of the event, A-A s Jaesuk Lee posted a 10-6 victory over Mitchell Keesey in third singles. Anup Jonche notched a 10-2 win over ZachBarney at second singles, while the Eagles? top doubles duo of Chris Cook and Carlos McInnes made quick work of Billy Harris and Alexis Jones 10-2. A-A rounded out the day with a forfeit victory for Dylan Yates and Baiju Sharda at second doubles.

The Eagles suffered their lone loss of the day at first singles where Pramod Rao dropped a 10-6 decision to the Panthers? Terry Pavlick.

A-A (2-1 SCAA) heads to Hammondsport Wednesday for a 4:15 p.m. start.

Golf
SCAA
Jasper-Troupsburg 35.5, Campbell-Savona 19.5
HORNELL ? Nick Helgeland carded an impressive round of 37 and Jasper-Troupsburg stayed undefeated with a 35.5-19.5 victory over Campbell-Savona Monday at River Valley.

Cameron Groff followed with a 41 for the Wildcats, who improved to 6-0 overall.
Campbell-Savona (3-3) was led by Tanner Pruden with a 48. Quintin Thistle had a 50.

Jasper-Troupsburg will travel to the Lakeside Country Club Wednesday to take on Hammondsport.
