You?ve probably been the victim of rumors about something, these are no different with health and fitness. Someone hears something like a great exercise tip at the local gym. Maybe they even didn?t hear it right. But they innocently tell something they know, and another myth is born, again.

If the person giving you the tip is one of authority you are more likely to take that tip as gospel. These ?rumors? can be harmful especially if the person does not do the exercise correctly. Would you be surprised to learn that myths exist about treadmill workouts and your knees. Your knees are a matter of contention, some believe that treadmills are safer than running on pavement where the knees are concerned. No way, running in general is harsh on the knees no matter what the surface. When you run or jog, the force of your weight impacts your knees. It does not matter what the surface may be.

Regardless of the tiny bit of give a treadmill will give you your knees are still going t take the impact of your weight. Your knees will thank you for making the investment into a quality running shoe.

Making your muscles really work is the only way to really get the best benefit. If you are living by this motto you are making a mistake. There is of course a difference between having a good workout and being in serious pain. If it hurts don?t do it, it the best rule to follow in relation to workout pain and soreness that does not subside in a reasonable amount of time. An injury can only get worse if you don?t stop.

One myth we?ve all used at one time or another is the ?I don?t have the extra time in my schedule for a workout?. All it takes really is 45 minutes to an hour a week. Then if you can, thirty minutes on the weekend which is better than nothing. Also, think about combining a quick exercise session while you are at work, or take the children if they are old enough. You can go for a brisk walk during your lunch hour or break. You can take ten minutes and jump a rope, and you can do that in your apartment or house. It?s not impossible to find that 10 minutes if you try hard enough.

You may have some good health and fitness advise of your own. The best thing to do when you hear something doubtful you need to research it to find some credible information to support or refute it.
